First word...
Thank you to our supporters
who have made this edition
of The EVC Magazine possible:
A
s we head towards the end of the
school year, you might still have a
few visits left on your calendar, and are
trying to make sure everyone can take
part. Visits for children with SEND need
careful planning and preparation to support inclusion,
so we’ve used this edition of The EVC Magazine to help
teachers and EVCs plan fully inclusive visits, f rom day
trips to DofE expeditions.
We go behind the scenes at Southgate School with
its adventurous curriculum, and f ind out more about
Solihull Academy Trust and its ambitious alternative
provision. Both are inspiring examples of the
difference that offsite visits can make to the children
who need them most – as is our feature about a group
of young carers enjoying a welcome respite f rom their
duties on a weekend away in Cumbria.
We’ve invited guest writers to offer their advice on
overseas travel, supporting autistic children on visits
and what to do in a visit emergency. Thank you to all
our contributors.
We hope the information and ideas will inspire you as
you plan ahead for next year’s visits and adventures.
All best wishes,
Nikki
