TRAVEL UPDATES FOR SCHOOLS
Erasmus+ opens the door to more school
travel in 2027
The UK has rejoined the Erasmus+ programme, opening
up new opportunities for young people to travel, study
and work abroad.
Erasmus+ is a programme that provides grant funding
for students, apprentices, teachers and other school staff
to study, train or work abroad. It also provides funding for
schools to work with organisations in other countries on
shared projects.
Residentials come top
in travel survey
Residential experiences are the most popular
educational visit, according to a survey conducted by
School Travel Organiser. Residentials came top of the
list for 51% of respondents, followed by activity and
adventure centres (41%). The survey also found that
distance is no barrier: 26% of schools were willing to
travel more than 200 miles within the UK for the right
experience, and 62% were planning overseas trips.
For the full survey results, see page 43.
More than 100,000 people are expected to benefit
in the first year, including school groups taking part
in cultural exchanges. For more information, and to

MOANA fast-track scheme extended
Following its successful introduction at the Port of Dover,
the MOANA scheme for school group travel between
England and France was extended in April to cover return
journeys from Calais. Under the scheme, eligible school
groups that have used the MOANA process from Dover can
now use this from Calais for their return travel, helping
to reduce delays. Visit →evolveadvice.co.uk/latestnews/2026/04/moana

THE EVC MAGAZINE – SUMMER 2026
Anyone who has dual citizenship (British citizenship plus
any other citizenship) will no longer be able to enter
the UK without their British passport or a certificate of
entitlement to enter the UK. The Home Office is advising
all British dual citizens to make sure they have a valid
UK or Irish passport or certificate of entitlement.
