A mix of school trips in line
for top award
The finalists for the 2024 ‘My Best School Trip’ Award showcase amazing visits abroad and closer to
home, with the winner to be announced at the School Travel Awards on 29th November at the Royal
Lancaster Hotel, London.
This special category at the annual School Travel Awards, which is organised by School Travel Organiser magazine,
shines a spotlight on exceptional school trips and provides an opportunity for schools to win £2,000 towards a future
adventure. This year’s entries include day trips, residentials and overseas visits.
WHO’S BEEN SHORTLISTED FOR THE 2024 AWARD?
■ Carisbrooke College (IWEF), Isle of Wight, for their
Year 10/11 trip to Vietnam: The custom itinerary included
culinary experiences, walking through tunnels, watching
a traditional Vietnamese musical and sleeping out in the
jungle.
■ Heathfield Knoll School, Worcestershire, for their
Year 6/7 residential to the Boundless Outdoors Centre
in Malvern: Children took part in all sorts from zip wires,
high ropes and climbing walls to a Malvern Hills ridge
walk, archery, orienteering and team challenges, each
designed to challenge the pupils’ comfort zones and
encourage them to work together.
■ Salusbury Primary School, Brent, for their Year 5 trip
to Turkey: The school decided to take pupils to Inegol
in the region of Bursa, to visit the children of Cayakka
School who they had been building up a relationship
with over several years. There were visits to several
mosques, as well as the Oylat Caves, a waterfall, Silk
Bazaar and the local museum in Inegol.
■ Stoke by Nayland Primary School, Colchester,
for their KS2 trip to the Snape Maltings Concert Hall in
Suffolk: This experience included a backstage tour of the
world-famous Snape Maltings Concert Hall, a workshop
in which children created and performed a song about
the photographs they had been exploring, the chance to
meet a musician and much more.
■ Southill Primary School, Weymouth, for their Year
4 residential to London: Taking a group of 31 pupils to
London is no mean feat. During this residential pupils
visited Shakespeare’s Globe and experienced a tour as
well as a live action workshop based around Romeo &
Juliet. They also went to see Wicked and met some of the
cast which was an added bonus.
