The Great British School Trip returns
For more, see page 20
The Great British School Trip bursary is now open for
2024/25.
Get Out Grant winners
Twelve schools have been
awarded EVOLVE Advice
Get Out! Grants of £500 to
support their educational
visits.
Winning applications included plans for day trips
to the beach, a Spanish exchange, camping and
bushcraft experiences, and even a trip to the
European Research Facility at CERN (see page 24 for
more about opportunities at CERN). A consistent
theme in the applications was inclusion – ensuring
that all children could benefit from these enriching
experiences.
Since its launch in 2022, the initiative, backed by Hyundai,
has already allocated funding to support over 90,000
young people to attend school trips. Bursaries are
available to schools across the UK, and allocated on a first
come, first served basis with priority to schools that have
more than 30% of their pupils receiving free school meals.

It dispels myths about using Pupil Premium,
including a reminder that the funding can be used
to support your wider cohort not just PP pupils,
and for a range of purposes not only classroom
interventions.
On the 'Menu of approaches' is extra-curricular
activities, which includes educational visits; and
staff training, coaching and mentoring.
