Updates, revisions and new guidance
for Educational Visits Coordinators
Staying on top of the latest national guidance can be tough when you’re busy. We’ve put
together a selection of key guidance updates since June to help you keep track.

Since our last edition, OEAP National
Guidance has published one new
guidance document: 4.4r Participants
with Autism (see below) and 10 new
Welsh language translations of existing
guidance. Other guidance documents
have been revised and updated, including:
accommodation and single-sex
facilities, and offers some potential
solutions for how to do this.
RISK MANAGEMENT
Medication UPDATED to include
4.4d
reference to non-prescription
medicines.
TRAVEL
Overseas Visits UPDATED to

include reference to government
guidance on the Dover-Calais border
arrangements for school groups
crossing by ferry.
Group Safety at Water Margins
UPDATED with guidance on
water quality and rescuing someone
from the water.

NEW 4.4r PARTICIPANTS WITH AUTISM
Participants with Autism helps you to plan and manage visits that
meet the needs of autistic participants. It includes guidance on
understanding autism and how it may present; how to plan inclusive visits;
and how to prepare participants. It also covers considerations for travel,
supervision and working with external providers.

Travel
On 12 October 2025, the
European Entry System
(EES) was officially
introduced to control entry
and exit at EU borders. This
means that school groups
travelling to the Schengen
area (most of mainland
Europe) will face new digital
