WHY TEACHER VISITS WORK
Try a
teacher
visit
When planning your overseas visits, do you factor in a pre-visit for
your Visit Leader? Providers are increasingly likely to offer teachers
opportunities to see popular visit locations in ‘showcases’ or
‘teacher visits’, sometimes at little or no cost. EVOLVE Advice paired
up with school travel providers Equity and NST for two such visits
last year, offering an immersive EVC training experience.
Pre-visits are not always required (or realistic),
but if you have the opportunity to go on a teacher
visit, here’s what you could gain as a result.

Teacher visit to Euro Space Center, Belgium with Visions in Education
28
Standing on the windswept beaches
of Normandy, you quickly understand
why educational visits leave such a
lasting impression on students. But
before your school group sets foot in
the country, a teacher visit gives you
the opportunity to experience the
journey yourself.
These experiences allow you to
explore destinations exactly as
your students will: visiting key
sites, sampling accommodation
and trying out activities.
Carefully designed to mirror the
student experience, these trips help
you to design your own visit. As you
take part in guided tours, workshops
and site visits, you can see how
the timings and itinerary work
in practice.
You can also view (or even stay in)
typical group accommodation,
helping you to plan group
movement, supervision and
downtime activities.
